Painted Ceiling Mural
Boston's Old City Hall

Boston's Old City Hall is a beautiful work of Beaux Arts architecture that was originally filled with rich decorative ornaments. Much of this ornament was lost during a century of renovations. Tromple L'Oeil Decorative Painting Studios was commissioned by the Architectural Heritage Foundation to restore the historic interior and recreate architectural ornament that had been lost over the years.

Artist Joshua Winer's training as an architect specializing in facade design provides the basis for skillfull interpretation of this period piece. Mr. Winer collaborated with architect Albert Knoepffler of ACK Architecture on this project.

Our skilled trompe l'oeil artists painted a range of ornamental details, including faux egg-and-dart moldings, a ceiling rosette, and Corinthian column capitals. Our lighting designers integrated a custom downlighting system into the ceiling design.

Our mural designers created a series of historical murals that wrap all four walls of the building foyer, offering a series of public art panels to visitors who enter the building from Boston's Freedom Trail. Let us know how we can help you!
